GOODWILL & HUCKLEBERRY'S TEAM UPEARTH-FRIENDLY DONORS FILLED UP THE TRUCK
The tenth annual donation drive hosted and sponsored by Huckleberry's Natural Market in Spokane broke records both for number of donors and number of gently used household items.
The event moved to April in honor of Earth Month, a move widely applauded by the many people stopping by. Much of the publicity in advance and during the drive was provided by co-sponsors KREM 2 TV, KISC FM Radio, and Down To Earth, aka DTE, the "green" publication of The Spokesman-Review Newspaper.
Huckleberry's added special incentives for donors who brought targeted items: Huckleberry's gift cards, a huge hit. A local craftsman, James Whittaker, created wood birdhouses colored with earth-friendly paint.
"We're delighted with the partnership and are very pleased the event could coincide with Earth Month this year," a Goodwill spokesman comments. "Both the volume and quality of the donated items were outstanding."
