Life Before Goodwill

After Danny graduated high school, he didn’t have much to do. He watched TV and went to church on Sundays. He felt like his life was boring. He needed something more fulfilling. That’s when he looked to Goodwill for some help.

Discovering Goodwill’s Support

Through Goodwill’s Group Supported Employment program, Danny got a job and learned many new skills. He made a lot of new friends and was very happy to be making his own money. Danny was especially proud when he reached his ten-year anniversary with Goodwill in 2022.

Overcoming Challenges

When Danny first came to Goodwill, he was strictly in a wheelchair and unable to stand. Now, he walks around on his own and works without using his wheelchair. He is very independent. Danny pushes himself to do his best and do quality work.

The Impact of Goodwill

Without Goodwill’s support, Danny said his life would be boring and lonely without seeing all his friends. He wouldn’t have the relationships that he has now. Thinking about that makes him sad. He also said he would be “so broke.” Danny would tell anyone that he works for Goodwill Industries and would encourage them to apply. His advice is, “Keep trying and don’t give up.”

Finding Fulfillment and Happiness

Since getting support from Goodwill, life has been better for Danny. He now has a sense of independence. He can pay his own bills and spend his own money on what he wants. He is happy to have a job. Goodwill helped Danny find fulfillment and happiness. Now, Danny is proud to be working and living a more independent life.
