Before coming to Goodwill, Brianna’s life was filled with challenges. She struggled with addiction, which led her to find herself in and out of jail. Each time she tried to start over, the cycle of addiction and the difficult lifestyle that came with it pulled her back down. She wanted to change, but she didn’t know where to start.
Eventually, she got connected to Goodwill’s Foundational Community Supports program for help.
Goodwill staff provided Brianna with rides to her treatment classes and doctor’s appointments, making sure she could stay consistent in her recovery. The program also helped her afford the fees to take her written driver’s test and her on-the-road driving test.
Her studying and efforts paid off when she passed those tests to get her driver’s license, which was a huge step toward her independence. And, with her case managers support, Brianna was finally able to move into a stable home where she no longer had to worry about being evicted. Now that she is off the streets and has her license, her life is more peaceful, and she is focusing on finding a full-time job.
Since starting the FCS program at Goodwill, Brianna has graduated from her treatment program. She is proud of how far she’s come and hopeful about what’s ahead. She said, “Without Goodwill, my life would be chaotic, frustrating, and I would probably be on the streets still using drugs and alcohol.” Goodwill is proud of Brianna for taking the tools and support from the FCS program to create a stronger, more hopeful future for herself.
