Johnny’s New Path to Success

Johnny’s life was hard for a long time. He struggled with addiction and made choices that led to trouble with the law. He was homeless for a long time. Each day he could only focus on survival. A better future felt out of reach. He didn’t have a safe place to live, and he felt hopeless.

Things started to change when Johnny joined the Foundational Community Supports program at Goodwill.

His case manager helped him move into an Oxford House, which gave him a safe and stable place to live. They also helped him get his driver’s license back, something he hadn’t had since he was 24 years old.

Today, Johnny has hope and a better life. He is clean and sober, still living off the streets and safe in the Oxford House. Now that he can drive legally again, Johnny is working to rebuild his life, step by step. He feels more confident and hopeful about his future.

He feels that without finding support through Goodwill’s program, his life would still be in turmoil, filled with the ups and downs of drugs and alcohol. “I would probably still be on the streets or dead,” Johnny shares. “My case manager has helped me navigate my way through recovery and the maze of living life on life’s terms. I refuse to go backwards.”

Johnny’s journey shows that even if you have made mistakes or faced tough times, you can always start over and build a better life.
