For much of her life, Trisha was caught in the cycle of addiction, homelessness, brief recovery, then relapse. She was living on the streets and doing whatever it took to survive. Treatment centers helped while she was there, but without a place to live, or any income, she would struggle again after getting out.
But something changed the last time she left treatment. This time, she was determined to change her life and rewrite her story. She connected with Goodwill’s Foundational Community Supports (FCS) program, which helped her find a place to live at a Women’s Oxford House.
Goodwill helped Trisha find funding to pay her rent at the Oxford House until she could get a job. That stability made all the difference. It gave her the space to breathe and plan for a different future.
The help paid off. Today, Trisha is working full time and recently moved into her own home, a goal she once thought was far out of reach. Her case manager said, “She has been able to accomplish every goal she has set for herself.” Now, Trisha is dreaming even bigger, and Goodwill will be there to continue helping her meet her goals. Her case manager said that “there is no doubt” Trisha will achieve her new goals.
“Goodwill has already helped me in so many ways and is always there for me if I feel overwhelmed,” she shared. When asked what her life would be like if she had not connected to Goodwill’s FCS program, Trisha said, “I would probably be stuck in the repetitive cycle of addiction and homelessness.”
