Jean-Paul Found Routine and Purpose Working at Goodwill

Jean-Paul said his life was “unpredictable” before he came to Goodwill. “There were good days, and bad days. It was quiet and some days, life was all over the place.” He didn’t have a routine, so it was hard for him to stay organized.

Things changed when Jean-Paul joined Goodwill’s Supported Employment program.

He learned how to keep things neat, clean up, and tell things apart. He also learned how to do his job and get paid. These new skills helped him feel better about himself.

With help from Goodwill, Jean-Paul started to feel more confident. He was not just learning new things—he was also helping others.

One employment specialist noticed Jean-Paul’s strong work ethic and attention to detail. “Every time I worked with him, he showed motivation and enthusiasm during his entire shift. He is among the fastest in efficiency with his job tasks. During one shift, Jean-Paul caught a mistake of mine while we were scanning books. I was thankful he was there to catch my mistake, not only did he catch it, but he taught me how to avoid a common mistake made during the scanning process.”

Now, Jean-Paul feels proud of what he has done. He has learned new skills and made new friends.

He said, “Without Goodwill my life would be out of balance and cluttered.”
