Goodwill Washington Stores Take a Step Toward Reducing Waste with Reusable Bags

Starting August 1st, as part of our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest is taking a meaningful step toward reducing waste by phasing out everyday single-use shopping bags at our Washington retail locations.

This change is designed to help keep more waste out of local landfills while encouraging more sustainable shopping habits throughout the communities we serve.

Customers will have the option to purchase reusable Goodwill shopping bags and, when needed, complimentary small boxes will be available to help transport purchases.

Single-use bags often end up in landfills, waterways, and natural areas, where they can take years to break down. By reducing our reliance on disposable bags and encouraging reusable alternatives, we can decrease the amount of plastic entering the waste stream, reduce litter, and contribute to a cleaner environment for future generations.

At Goodwill, we believe small changes can make a big difference. This transition supports our broader efforts to be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us while continuing to serve our customers and communities.

We appreciate the support of our shoppers as we take this important step toward reducing waste. We encourage customers to bring reusable bags when visiting our Washington stores and join us in making a positive impact on our environment.

Together, we can reduce waste, keep more materials out of landfills, and create cleaner, healthier communities across the Inland Northwest.
