Before coming to Goodwill, life was not very exciting for Danny. After high school, he spent most days watching TV and going to church on Sundays. He felt bored and lonely and wanted something more meaningful to do. Danny needed a place where he could feel useful, make friends, and build a better life. That is when he found Goodwill.
Through Goodwill’s Group Supported Employment program, Danny found more than just a job. He’s learned many new skills and became part of a team. He’s made many friends at Goodwill and enjoys spending time with them at work. Danny is also proud to earn his own paycheck and take care of himself.
Danny has been with Goodwill for 14 years. He has grown in many ways during his time at Goodwill. When he first started, he used a wheelchair all the time and could not stand. Today, Danny walks on his own and works without needing a wheelchair. He is independent and continues to push himself every day. Danny always does his best and takes pride in doing quality work.
Danny shows up ready to work every day. He gives his full effort and is always willing to help his job coaches and co workers. He especially enjoys sorting cards and de tagging clothing. These tasks make him feel focused and proud of the work he completes. His positive attitude and strong work ethic make him an important part of the team.
Today, Danny lives a more independent and fulfilling life. He pays his own bills, manages his own money, and feels proud of what he has accomplished. Danny’s dedication, growth, and positive spirit make him a deserving 2025 Goodwill Achiever of the Year Award recipient. His story shows how support, hard work, and determination can truly change a life.
