Disability Pride Month: Building Opportunity Together

This Disability Pride Month, we want to thank the employers who believe everyone deserves a chance to work and succeed. Premier Manufacturing is one of those employers.

Premier Manufacturing worked with Goodwill to create a job for Gary, an employment program participant.

They were willing to try new things to hire him. His Employment Specialist helped them understand Gary’s strengths, skills, and needs. Together, they built a job that matched his abilities.

She worked closely with the company to create a job description. The team also let Gary try different tasks. This helped them find a job that worked best for him. As Gary gained experience, he learned new skills and tasks in other departments.

The team at Premier Manufacturing says Gary is a hard worker with a positive attitude. His coworkers enjoy working with him and say he helps make the workplace better. CEO Britt La Chance says people with different life experiences can bring new ideas and new ways of thinking to the workplace.

“Everyone deserves to have a job,” he said. “We’ve worked with a lot of employment programs, and Goodwill just gives us another employment program to work with to bring on other candidates.”

Premier Manufacturing shows us that people of all abilities can learn, work, and succeed. By working together, we are able to create opportunities that change lives and strengthen communities.
