How Brianna Found a Fresh Start

Brianna faced many challenges before coming to Goodwill. She struggled with addiction and other troubles. Her turning point came when the Grant County Community Court Program referred her to Goodwill for housing support.

At the time, she was living in a women’s and children’s home, where she was safe. But she hoped for a place of her own.  She wanted a fresh start.

Goodwill’s Foundational Community Supports program (FCS) helped Brianna look for an apartment. She searched until she found one that would accept her. Once she was approved for an apartment, Goodwill helped her pay her security deposit and first month’s rent. This support made it possible for Brianna to move into her own home and begin the next chapter of her life.

Once she got housed, Brianna’s life began to change in meaningful ways. She gained confidence knowing she had people who believed in her and supported her. Having a stable home helped her focus on her goals. She is now working toward becoming a manager at her job, owns her own car, and has a place she can call home. One of the things she looks forward to most is being able to have a cat.

“I am thankful to Goodwill for being there for me while I worked hard on myself to get into a better place in life,” Brianna shared. She was so grateful for the support and encouragement from her case manager.

Her case manager shared, “I am inspired by Brianna because she knew from day one what her goals were. Her determination in accomplishing her goals, in the right manner, is amazing.”

Today, Brianna’s story is one of growth, determination, and hope. With support, trust, and hard work, she has built a better future for herself.
