Before coming to Goodwill, Gigi was in a very bad place in her life. She was struggling with addiction and did not have stable housing or income. She only focused on getting through each day. It was hard for her to plan for the future or believe change was possible. Gigi knew she needed help, but she did not have the support or resources to move forward on her own.
When Gigi connected with the Foundational Community Supports program (FCS) at Goodwill, she found support, structure, and a team that believed in her.
Goodwill helped her secure stable housing, giving her a safe place to begin rebuilding her life. She also received employment support, including help searching for jobs, filling out applications, and preparing for interviews.
With stable housing and continued support, Gigi’s life began to change. She focused on her recovery and personal growth. She found a job at a law firm, starting in an entry‑level secretary position. Through hard work and dedication, she continued to learn and grow.
Today, Gigi works full‑time as a Legal Assistant and has her own office. Her employer is mentoring her and supporting her path toward becoming a paralegal. She is still sober, and has built a good life for herself, giving her pride and purpose.
Gigi shared her gratitude, saying, “I am thankful to Goodwill because they gave me a chance when I felt like I had nothing left.” She shared that the support from the FCS team helped her find housing, build a career, and see her own strength. Now, she is stable and has a future she is excited about.
Her case manager shared, “I am inspired by Gigi because of her strength and determination she has shown throughout her journey.” It’s never easy to ask for help or commit to changing your life, but Gigi gave it her all and continued to show up for herself.
Today, Gigi’s story is one of perseverance, growth, and hope. She is a reminder that change is possible with the right support and your own determination.
