Wes and His Gold Medal Life

Wes has been a part of the Goodwill family for nearly 15 years, and every day he comes to work ready to give his best. Three days a week, he shows up with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Whether he is sorting colored hangers, organizing boxes, or inspecting media, Wes takes pride in doing the job right.

One of his favorite tasks is working with media. He carefully checks cases and discs, making sure everything is in order. His attention to detail and natural organizing skills have made him a valuable member of the team. In fact, his job coach often says that Wes is an excellent organizer, especially when bundling hangers.

Wes is quick to give credit to his job coach. He appreciates all the support and guidance she provides and says she is a great help to him. The two work so well together that Wes proudly calls them “the dynamic duo of Goodwill and hard work.” Their partnership has helped make every workday both productive and enjoyable.

Goodwill was Wes’s very first job. After graduating from high school, he joined the organization through the SPARKS program. What started as a first job grew into one of the best experiences of his life. Wes says Goodwill is one of the best jobs because it keeps him busy and gives him a chance to contribute every day.

Outside of work, Wes is an accomplished athlete. Through Special Olympics, he competes in swimming and bocce ball and has also played floor hockey. His dedication has earned him three gold medals. He also serves on the Athlete Leadership Committee, helping encourage and support fellow athletes. Along the way, he has built many strong friendships that mean a great deal to him.

Whether at work or in sports, Wes believes in showing up, working hard, and helping others. His years of dedication, positive spirit, and commitment to teamwork make him an inspiration to everyone around him. From the Goodwill workroom to the Special Olympics playing field, Wes continues to prove that success comes from hard work, friendship, and never giving up.
